FREEWIFEY PROJECT DESCRIPTION

#FREEWIFEY is a print publication dedicated to exposing traditional patriarchal ideologies, while conveying critical insights of the feminist artists in both printed and online publication. The first issue "Balkan Tour" tells a story of six Western Balkan countries where life is difficult, violent and disenfranchised, all the while presenting thee feminist artists and their response. It shows us a format in which deep rooted patriarchal norms shape every segment of women’s lives.

Supported by a wide range of articles written by Balkan female activists, researchers, artists and teachers, "Balkan Tour" is the first collected research on the theme of Balkan patriarchy and a learning experience on how to expose dominant narratives and structures of inequality by introducing feminist art and manifesting a desire for projecting change, playing with existing realities and conventions.

#FREEWIFEY is inspired by a #freebritney movement, a social movement to grant American singer Britney Spears autonomy from her conservatorship.
